FAQ

Q: When does the season start and end?

A: The boy's club season starts in October and goes through February. The girl's club season starts in December and goes through May.

Q: What are the differences between National, Regional, and Academy Teams?

A: The Academy is a training only program that practice once a week and do not play in tournaments, but are still part of the club and receive the same level of coaching that every other team does. Regional teams attend local one day tournaments about once a month during the season. National teams attend weekend long tournaments as well as AAU Nationals and will continue to practice through June.

Q: How often are practices?

A: Practices are twice a week for two hours each. Practices will be either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday depending on the team they are on.

Q: Which nights will my team practice?

A: Practice nights will be assigned after tryouts. This is so we can have similarly skilled teams practicing on the same night and we will not know team composition until after tryouts.

Q: Where are practices?

A: Practices are held at either XL Sports World Cherry Hill and Eastern High School in Voorhees, NJ.

Q: If everyone who tries out makes a team why are there tryouts?

A: The tryouts are used to evaluate players in an effort to build the most competitive teams possible. After tryouts all players will be offered a spot on either our National teams, Regionals Teams, or Academy according to their abilities.

Q: Why is acceptance into the Academy a first come first serve basis?

A: After tryouts, anyone who does not make a national or regional team is offered a spot in our Academy. Due to limited gym space we are only able to take so many athletes.

Q: How many tournaments are there and where are they?

A: Each team goes to five tournaments and typically one a month. Tournaments are typically in Pennsylvania about two hours from the Cherry Hill area.

Q: What does a typical tournament look like?

A: A typical tournament will start off with pool play where we will play each team in our pool. The top teams from pool play will then advance to playoffs and compete in single elimination bracket play.

Q: What are the cut off dates for age groups?

A: The cut offs can be found here on the AAU website.

Q: How can I link my child's Sports Engine account to my guardian account?
